Aftercare & Healing

Following your cosmetic or paramedical tattoo treatment aftercare is essential to support healthy healing, protect the treated area and encourage optimal colour retention.

These instructions have been provided to you to ensure the best possible healed result.

Your skin will naturally go through a healing process, and it is important to follow your personalised aftercare instructions carefully.

Cosmetic Semi-Permanent Tattoos

Aftercare is an important part of achieving the best possible healed result. Your skin has been delicately tattooed and needs time to repair and settle. Please follow these instructions carefully and avoid touching the treated area unnecessarily.

Immediately After Treatment

  • Keep the area clean and avoid unnecessary touching.

  • Wash your hands thoroughly before applying any recommended aftercare product.

  • Apply only the product recommended and use it sparingly.

During the Healing Period 10 days

  • Do not pick, scratch, peel or rub the treated area. Allow any flaking or peeling to occur naturally.  Removing skin flakes prematurely will pull out pigment from the skin.

  • Avoid swimming pools, spas, saunas and the ocean until the skin has healed.

  • Avoid activities that cause excessive sweating for the initial healing period, as advised.

  • Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning. Once fully healed, use a high-SPF sunscreen to help protect the colour retention.

  • Do not apply makeup, skincare products, active ingredients or exfoliants directly over the treated area until it has healed.

  • Avoid facial treatments such as chemical peels, microdermabrasion, laser treatments and other exfoliating procedures around the treated area during healing.

  • Do not use retinol, acids or other potentially irritating products on the area as they may effect pigment retention.

  • During the 6wks between each treatment, the treated area may appear darker, lighter, warmer, slightly swollen or more defined than the final healed result. This is normal.

Brows

  • First 24-48hrs - Keep the brows clean using a cotton pad dampened with warm water.

  • Remove any fluid that has oozed from the brows as it re-appears. Apply a thin layer of aftercare balm.

  • After 48hrs - Apply aftercare balm 1-3 times per day for 10 days to protect and moisturise the brows.  Use only the recommended gel/balm.  If you have any reactions, please contact me asap for further instructions.

  • Avoid picking or removing dry skin as this will pull pigment out of the skin.

Lips

  • First 24-48hrs - Keep the lips clean using a cotton pad dampened with warm water.

  • Remove any fluid that has oozed from the lips as it re-appears. Apply a thin layer of aftercare balm

  • After 48hrs - Apply aftercare balm 6-8 times per day for 10 days to protect and moisturise the lips.

  • Use only the recommended gel/balm.  If you have any reactions, please contact me asap for further instructions.

  • Avoid picking or removing dry skin as this will pull pigment out of the skin.

  • Minimise exposure to very hot, spicy or irritating foods during the initial healing period. Use a clean straw where appropriate and avoid activities that may introduce bacteria to the healing area.

Eyes

  • Avoid eye makeup, mascara, eyeliner, lash products, lash extensions and creams directly around the treated area while it heals.

  • Do not rub or scratch the eyes.

  • If your eyes are sore or irritated, you may use some non-saline based eye drops. DO NOT USE saline as it pulls the pigment out of the skin.

  • Avoid swimming, saunas and activities that may cause excessive perspiration during the initial healing period of 10 days.

  • If your eyes become irritated, discontinue any non-essential products and contact me asap.
